Revd Dr Alun Evans
Originally from Pembroke Dock in South Pembrokeshire, I have spent most of my life living in various parts of beautiful West Wales. I am a first-generation graduate and studied my first degree in History and Mathematics at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. I then studied for a Masters in Church History at University of Wales, Lampeter and afterwards completed a PGCE in Upper Primary Education at Aberystwyth University. During my years teaching in primary schools back in Pembrokeshire, the call to ordained ministry grew and I explored this while studying two years part time of the precursor to Theology for Life. In 2013 I started as an ordinand in Llandaff, and during those years I studied for a Postgraduate Diploma in Practical Theology and began working on my PhD in cultural hermeneutics with Cardiff University (supervised by Dr. John Wilks). Also, during my time at theological college, I most importantly got to know my wonderful wife, Becky, who is also an ordained minister in the Church in Wales!
Since being ordained in 2016, I served in a range of parishes in St Davids Diocese,
as well as gaining experience of chaplaincy ministry, being aware of the joys and challenges of contemporary mission in the Wales. Alongside full-time ministry I completed my PhD and started to work as a Postgraduate Teaching Assistant at St Padarn’s, before starting my current role.
When not working, I enjoy learning to play the harp, walking, paddleboarding, and eating good food!
