When children don’t come to the funeral
Some families don’t feel able to bring young children to family funerals. When this happens, I ask if there is a family member or friend who might take a few photos – not of the ceremony, but of the coffin arriving at the church or crematorium, of the flowers and maybe of some of the people; that sort of thing. These photos can then go into the family album and, as the children get older, the family can talk about the funeral with them.
